GREENPRINTS ALLIANCE ANNOUNCES TRAILFEST, MAY 2, 2015 WITH MUSICAL HEADLINER: THE DIRTY GUV’NAHS

Greenprints Alliance announces the sixth annual Trailfest event will be held Saturday, May 2, 2015 on the Resurgens Orthopaedics Community Stage at Elm Street Cultural Arts Village in Downtown Woodstock adjacent to the start of the Town to Creek Trail, which totals approximately 1.5 miles of multi-use concrete trail. The day’s events will start with a 5K race, 1 mile Fun Run, live music, food, beer and community.

The 5K race will start at Elm Street and Main Street and will be an out and back race on the Greenprints Town to Creek and Noonday Creek Trail segments. Awards will be given to the top 3 male and female finishers and overall age group finishers. he 1 mile fun run is for children under 12 years of age. Registration details will be announced soon.

Live music will start on the event green following the conclusion of the races. Headlining this year’s event is The Dirty Guv’nahs (www.thedirtyguvnahs.com). This six-piece brotherhood from Knoxville, Tennessee, is called “a fiercely soulful band” by the Boston Globe, and has been affirmed by Paste Magazine to “know rock and roll from the inside out.” The live experience of The Dirty Guv’nahs has been hailed as one of the best in the southeast and according to Music Connection Magazine, “The Dirty Guv’nahs don’t just play music; they capture the human experience through song.” This experience is led by the soulful holler of singer / songwriter James Trimble, and accentuated by the intricate lead guitar work of Cozmo Holloway and the tasteful piano, organ, and harmony vocals of Kevin Hyfantis. The sturdy rhythm section of the band is filled out by brothers Justin and Aaron Hoskins’ on bass and drums, along with the glue and musical leadership of songwriter Michael Jenkins on the rhythm guitar.

Also returning to perform during the event is Davin McCoy and The Coming Attractions (www.davinmccoy.com) with three more bands to be announced shortly.

Several food vendors, beer vendors, and outdoor recreational activities will also be available for participants.

While Trailfest always makes for a Saturday of exciting music, socializing and camaraderie, there is a greater purpose. Trailfest is the single largest fundraiser for Greenprints Alliance, a non-profit organization based in Woodstock, GA, which has an annual public and private contribution goal of $100,000 to advocate for and fund green infrastructure projects as part of the Award-winning Greenprints Master Plan of trails, pathways and inter-connectivity around Woodstock, GA. Trailfest draws more than 2,000 people each year. Festivities run from 8 AM – 8 PM, rain or shine. Ample parking is available all around Downtown Woodstock.
