Greenprints Alliance announces the seventh annual Trailfest event will be held Saturday, May 7, 2016 on the Resurgens Orthopaedics Community Stage at Elm Street Cultural Arts Village in Downtown Woodstock adjacent to the start of the Noonday Creek Trail, which totals approximately 1.5 miles of multi-use concrete trail. The day’s events will start with the Northside Hospital Cherokee 5K race and 1 mile Fun Run, live music, food, beer and community.

Live music will start on the event green following the conclusion of the races. Headlining this year’s event is The Delta Saints (www.thedeltasaints.com) and the roster of additional musical performers will be announced shortly.

On The Delta Saints’ new album, Bones, the Nashville-based band have stripped their roots/blues sound down to its essence, having rearranged the elements into something uniquely their own. Steeped in rock ‘n’ roll’s building blocks – country, R&B, soul and gospel – The Delta Saints’ second full-length effort explores influences like Jack White, The Black Keys, My Morning Jacket, Band of Horses and Led Zeppelin. Producer/engineer/mixer and Third Man Records alum, Eddie Spear [Jack White, Arctic Monkeys, Neil Young] provided a ghostly, psychedelic atmosphere at Nashville’s Sputnik Sound studios, yielding a sound unlike anything they have created before.

The Northside Hospital Cherokee 5K race will be an out and back race and awards will be given to the top 3 male and female finishers and overall age group finishers. The 1 mile Fun Run is for children under 12 years of age. Registration details will be announced soon. Several food vendors, beer vendors, and outdoor recreational activities will also be available for participants.

While Trailfest always makes for a Saturday of exciting music, socializing and camaraderie, there is a greater purpose. Trailfest is the single largest annual fundraiser for Greenprints Alliance, a non-profit organization based in Woodstock, GA, which has an annual public and private contribution goal of $100,000 to advocate for and fund green infrastructure projects as part of the award-winning Greenprints Master Plan of trails, pathways and inter-connectivity around Woodstock, GA and Cherokee County. Trailfest draws more than 2,000 people each year. Festivities run from 8 AM – 8 PM, rain or shine. Ample parking is available all around Downtown Woodstock.
